Athlete Food Choice Questionnaire Website and Database

PROJECT TYPE

Master's Group Client Project

DATE

Jul - Oct 2024

LOCATION

University of the Sunshine Coast

ROLE

Project Leader, Documentation, Cyber Security Planner

As part of a University Master's Group Project, we undertook the task of transforming the Athlete Food Choice Questionnaire (AFCQ) from a traditional paper-based format into a fully functional website and database. This digital platform was designed with a comprehensive cybersecurity plan, ensuring data integrity and security.

Our dedication to innovation and efficiency is reflected in every aspect of this project, demonstrating our commitment to delivering exceptional solutions for our client.

Assigned Duties and Outcomes

Cyber Security Plan:
Developed a comprehensive cybersecurity plan tailored to their limited knowledge in the field/ The plan outlined essential security layers, including user authentication, data encryption, and firewall protection, to safeguard the website and database. Additionally, recommendations were provided for SaaS models detailing their features and associated costs. To ensure the security of the AFCQ website, I developed a cybersecurity plan focusing on key protection measures:

User Authentication: Implemented Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) with a one-time password (OTP) system to enhance login security and reduce the risk of credential-based attacks.

Encryption: Recommended Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) for encrypting data in transit and Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256) for securing sensitive information stored in the SQL database. Passwords were further protected using hashing techniques.

Database Security: Proposed cloud-based database solutions such as Amazon RDS and Google Cloud SQL to offer scalable security features, including automatic backups, access controls, and network isolation.

Firewall & Network Security: Suggested the implementation of a Web Application Firewall (WAF) using either AWS WAF or Cloudflare WAF to monitor and block malicious traffic, prevent unauthorized data transfers, and protect against cyber threats.

Project Leader:
Facilitated team meetings, managed client and lecturer communications, and ensured the project stayed on track by defining and maintaining the scope and timelines

Documentation:
Provided detailed meeting notes capturing key decisions and actions, comprehensive records of client requirements and their implementation, and tracking project milestones to monitor progress, identify risks and apply contingency when needed
